Introduction

You can write Short and Long Product Descriptions for individual Products. This enables you to intelligently organize your content. For example, you may wish to display a list of features in one description and technical specifications in another. You may choose from a variety of display styles, such as displaying the content in tabs or panels. You can mix Maps and Product Information into the display, providing rich content to your customers.

Important Note: Product Descriptions are re-loaded every time the Product Main Tab is loaded. If you are editing the Title or Body of a Product Description, please SAVE prior to selecting another tab, such as the Advanced Tab.

Getting Started

Log into the administrative side of your database, navigate to Settings > Setup > Configuration and search for "product descriptions". In the Products section, you will see a Configuration for "Default title for new product descriptions". Update this text and click to save to have a different Title by default.

Product Description Titles

You can define how new product descriptions are titled by default. Input your preference and click the Save button. You may change individual title descriptions at any time. Select the Product in the Administrative side of your database, find the description under the Descriptions section of the Product, input a new Title and click the Save button.

Creating Product Descriptions
Navigate to the Product section in the Administrative side of your database. Select an existing Product, or create a new Product and in the Descriptions section, click the "Add Description" button.


You will see a new Descriptions tab with the default Title.


You may update the Title and compose your Description via the text editor, then click Save.


Important Note: Product Descriptions are re-loaded every time the Product Main Tab is loaded. If you are editing the Title or Body of a Product Description, please SAVE prior to selecting another tab, such as the Advanced Tab.  

Editing Product Descriptions

You may update your Product Descriptions by returning to the Product, selecting the tab, making your edits, and clicking Save.

Inactivating Product Descriptions

Click on the Active / Inactive toggle button and click Save. Inactive Products will no longer be displayed to your customers.

Admin Only Descriptions

If you only want Administrators to see a particular Description, check the "Admin Only" checkbox and click Save. Now, it will only be displayed if the Product is viewed by one of the "View" tools.

Deleting a Product Description

Click the Delete button and then click the Save button to delete a Product Description.

Sorting Product Content

Product Descriptions, Product Information, and Maps are all displayed together on the Product Details page. You may change the sort order by dragging and dropping the tabs and then clicking the Save button.
