Inserting Dynamic Data into Product Long Descriptions
Introduction
The Product Long Description field and HTML Template type of the Product Description allow for the injection of data tags. This enables your content to stay up to date with your Products. For example, if you have an Event that was scheduled to start on February 10th, but the date has changed, using the {{product.startdate}} tag in your Product Long Description, you will not need to update the description to match the new date, it happens automatically.
Getting Started
First, you will need to select this option via a System Configuration. Open Settings > Setup > Configuration. Then, search for "Allow Processing data tags within the product description" toggle in the Products section. Select On and click the Save button.
Your First Tag
Now that you are setup, you can begin using data tags. Find a Product and select the Main tab. Write a Long Description as you normally would, but use the tag {{product.startdate}} where you would normally type the Date and click the Save button.

To see your tag in action, click "View Product In Cart".
