Course Containers are used to organize your Content into a hierarchy. Container pages can display HTML content, such as a Chapter Introduction. An example hierarchy could be Chapters containing Exercises, Exercises containing Activities, and Activities containing content. Course Containers can be used independently at any level of a course and do not require hierarchy.
Click CHAPTER to create a high level container. Likewise, click EXERCISE to create a mid-level container, or click ACTIVITY to create a low level container. Content Items within Activity Containers are display to Learners in a paged format.
Enter a Title for your container and click to SAVE.
After choosing the container type, entering a Title, and clicking to SAVE, you will then see the edit screen for your newly created container.
Here is an explanation of each of the fields on the edit screen (shown above). All fields are optional, unless marked as (required).
Title: the name of the Container (required).
Prerequisite: choose another Course Container or Item that the Learner must complete before entering this Container. This can be useful (for example) to keep Learners from jumping ahead, or to keep them from taking an Exam before viewing the content that the Exam covers.
Required: check to indicate that the Learner must complete all Items in this Container in order to complete the Course.
Admin Approval: check to create a hard break point. After the Learner completes this Container, they will be locked-out of the Course. A Course Administrator will then use the Grader to approve the Student to continue the Course.
Display Attachments: one Type of Course Item is Attachment. If a Course Container contains Attachment Items, links to the attachments can be displayed on the Course Container’s page. Use the menu to choose a display option.
Optional HTML Content: Use this Word-style editor to compose content to be displayed on the Course Container’s page.
