Form Based Discounts and Fees

Form Based Discounts and Fees

How to Apply a Discount or Fee Based on a Form Response

To apply a discount or fee based on how a customer answers a form question, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Create the Form and Question

Start by creating the form and adding the question that will trigger the price adjustment.

  • If the form is an assignable type, make sure it’s assigned to the appropriate product(s) that the discount or fee should apply to.

  • For help with this step, see: Creating forms, Assignments, and Regions and Categories.

Tip: The form question must offer a list of predetermined response options (e.g., dropdown or radio buttons). You cannot apply pricing changes based on open-ended responses like textboxes or file uploads.

Step 2: Set Up the Discount or Fee

After your form is created and assigned to the correct product(s), create the base discount or fee.
See the Discounts documentation for more guidance.

Tip: If you plan to offer multiple price variations based on the same form response, first create one version of the discount or fee and set the requirement. Then, clone it and adjust the amount while keeping the requirement the same.

Step 3: Add a Requirement to Trigger the Price Adjustment

  1. Open the discount or fee you've created.

  2. Click "Edit Requirements."

  3. Select "Add New Requirement."

  1. Give your requirement a title.

  2. Choose "Form Questions" as the requirement type.

After selecting Form Questions, you’ll be prompted to choose:

  • The Form

  • The Question

  • The specific Response that will trigger the discount or fee

  1. Click Save at the top-right of the screen to apply the changes.

Final Tip:
Ensure both the form (if assignable) and the discount/fee are assigned to the relevant product(s). If either is missing, the price adjustment will not function properly.
