Introduction

Discounts may be created and applied at the Product, Region, or Category level. They may be used to automatically lower the cost of a Shopping Cart item, by taking a fixed dollar amount, or a percentage off the price of the applied item, as long as the requirements set for the discount have been met.

Example: You want to create an instant discount that lowers the price of all your products within a particular date range. Many customers call this an “Early Bird” registration discount. It encourages customers to sign up and purchase early, which helps with planning your event or managing your inventory.

Getting Started

Pro-Tip! By naming a Discount generically like “Early Registration”, or “10% off”, it may easily be used on multiple products. Amount: This is the amount of the discount, either in dollars, or percentage.
Start Date: The date that you want the discount to start on.  (Remember that this is only for items to which the discount is assigned.)
End Date: The date that you want the discount to end on.  (Remember that this is only for items to which the discount is assigned.)
Export Value: If you want to export this data to a 3rd party system that requires the discount's name to be in a certain format, you can enter that format here.
Limit Qty / Account: Checking this box states that you want to limit the number of times an account can use this discount. Once checked you are required to enter in a number that limits this discount per account.
Limit Qty / Participant: Checking this box states that you want to limit the number of times a participant can use this discount. Once checked you are required to enter in a number that limits this discount per participant. (Please note: If you have an account limit set to two and a participant limit set to two, if you use two on one participant under the same account then that one participant will have used all the limits set on the account.)
Quantity: The total number of times this discount can be consumed.  This is a per-use basis, so each time the discount is applied to a product it is one use.
Purchased: The total number of times this discount has been purchased.
Remaining: The total number of remaining uses of this discount.
Infinite: Checking this box will nullify the number entered in the Quantity text box making the quantity of this discount unlimited.
Percent: By checking this box, the amount becomes a percentage. Example; Amount is set at 50 and do not check the box, the discount will be $50.00, while checking the box discounts 50%.
Instant: This makes the discount apply instantly in the product list and description before the product is added to the cart.
Inactive: By selecting this, the discount is no longer active, even if it's assigned to an item.

Once you have created your discount, click Save. Your discount will appear in the list of discounts on the "Manage Discounts" page.

To set requirements for using the discount, locate your discount in the list and click Requirements.  Requirements allow you to build automated features that activate the discount such as “Minimum age of Participant” or “Coupon Codes”.

Pro-Tip! You can apply multiple discounts to products, but make sure that they don't contradict each other or you will get an error in your cart.

Types of Discounts

There are a variety of types of Discounts that may be created.
The type of Discount will be determined by the Requirements of that Discount.
Here is a description of each of the Requirements, which may be selected:

Account Membership Level: This discount will trigger if the membership level of the account matches the requirement membership level.

Account Purchase Level: This discount will trigger if the purchase level of the account matches the requirement discount level.

Any to Any: This discount will apply to one of a group of products when one of another group of products is purchased.
Variations: Limit by Account, Limit by Participant, Allow previous orders for requirement.

Apply to Product: This discount can apply to a different product than the one which the discount is applied. It can also adjust the date that the requirement is applied for.

Buy X Get Y by Email Domain: This discount can be offered to registrants that share an email domain with other registrants as a method of group discounting and recognizing multiple registrants with the same domain such as co-workers so that one account does not need to purchase for all registrants.

Count of multi-select answers: A discount can be given based on the number of answers a person selects. This is based on a particular multi-select question on a form that you define when setting this discount up.

Form Questions: This discount applies to event product types only and is form question-based. The form question discount can be on any form and uses the associated answer from a list, radio button, and other selectable controls. When configuring this requirement you choose the item which you want the discount applied towards. The other answers will receive will receive no discounts. This will apply a flat dollar amount or a percentage off all products that have this discount assigned. I.E. Are you an alumnus? Yes > Get $10 off all products with the assigned discount in your cart. No > Pay full price for products in your cart. What size shirt do you want? S, M, L> pay full price for products in your cart, L>$10 off all products with assigned discount in your cart. Discounts can be stacked for the same list items also but can be powerful and complicated. This would allow each list item to provide a unique price based on each list answer.

Group Registration Sibling: This discount applies only when there are multiple registrations per a single product. I.E. Event 1 has five registrants and three of them are siblings and you need two or more siblings to get the discount (all 3 will get the discount). Siblings are distinguished by having the same last name during registration.

Max Age of Account: When the Age of the Account holder is equal to, or lower than the specified Age, this Discount will apply only toward the Product to which it is attached

Max Age of Participant: When the Age of the Participant is equal to, or lower than the specified Age, this Discount will apply only toward the Product to which it is attached

Min Age of Account: When the Age of the Account holder is equal to, or higher than the specified Age, this Discount will apply only toward the Product to which it is attached.

Min Age of Participant: When the Age of the Participant is equal to, or higher than the specified Age, this Discount will apply only toward the Product to which it is attached.

Minimum Product Quantity After: When a certain quantity threshold is met for a specific product then every product after that is discounted while the quantity that created the threshold remains at full price. (ex. The threshold is three, so for the fourth product (and on) of that specific product will be discounted while the original three added will remain at full price).

Minimum Product TYPE Quantity After: Should be assigned by region and/or category because it spans TYPES of products. When a certain quantity threshold is met for a product TYPE then every product of that TYPE after that is discounted while the quantity that created the threshold remains at full price. (ex. The threshold is three, so for every fourth product (and on) of that TYPE will be discounted while the original three added will remain at full price).

Multi-Session: This is a by-participant discount that is applied when a participant signs up for multiple camps, sessions, events, etc. This will need to be assigned to each product and as participants sign up and the minimum threshold is reached, a discount will be applied for each additional session they sign up for.

Multi-Session All: This is a by-participant discount that is applied when a participant signs up for multiple camps, sessions, events, etc. This will need to be assigned to each product and as participants sign up and the minimum threshold is reached, a discount will be applied to all sessions.
Variations: Products of the same type are required in the Cart, Allow previous orders for the requirement.

Participant Buy X Quantity Apply Adjustment to Y Quantity: This discount will trigger after the purchase of X quantity products and apply the adjustment to the next Y quantity products for only products assigned to the same participant. Buy one get one half off, for example.

Participant Membership Level: This discount will trigger if the membership level of the participant matches the required membership level.

Participant Purchase Level: This discount will trigger if the purchase level of the participant matches the requirement discount level.

Product Total: When the specified Product Total amount is reached, this Discount will apply evenly across all products to which it is attached. Note: Only ONE of these discounts is allowed to be created at a time.

Purchase Product: This discount will trigger if the account has purchased the selected product.

Referral Source: A specific link can be provided to customers as a referral source or a specific referral source to receive the discount that is assigned

Required Product TYPE Grouping Quantity: This should be assigned by region and/or category because it spans TYPES of products. When a certain quantity of a product TYPE is reached, a discount is applied, each instance of the discount requires a specific quantity of a product TYPE and removes those products used from the available count. (ex if quantity is set to 3, then for every 3 of the same product TYPE were added will get the discount. The 1st and 2nd product TYPE would not get the discount until the 3rd of the same TYPE was added)

Required Minimum Product Quantity All: This is different from the Required Product Grouping Quantity discount, because it does not remove the products from available count; therefore, if you bought 3 products with a minimum count of 2, the discount would be applied to all products current and added from there-on if the minimum count threshold still holds true. This is only applied to a specific product.

Required Product Grouping Quantity: When a certain quantity of a specific product is reached, a discount is applied to that group of products. Each instance of the discount requires a specific quantity of a product and removes those products used from the available count. (ex if quantity is set to 3, then for every 3 of this specific product added will get the discount. The 1st and 2nd product would not get the discount until the 3rd was added)

Required Product TYPE Quantity All: Should be assigned by region and/or category because it spans TYPES of products. When a certain quantity of product TYPE is reached a discount is applied to all items matching that type. This includes any product (and its quantity selected) that matches that TYPE of product. I.E. Event 1 and Event 2 are same types but different products altogether, these will be counted towards the discount.

Single Registration Sibling: This discount applies only when a single registrant is applied across multiple products purchased in a single order. I.E. Event 1 is purchased three times and for each unique instance of Event 1 Bob Smith registers for one instance, Joe Smith registers for the second instance, and Alex Smith registers for the 3rd instance.
This also works across multiple products of the same type where a single registrant is registered and they are a sibling of another registrant on a another product.

Textbox Answer Length: This discount can be given based on the character length in a textbox. You choose a form and question to tie this discount to.

Tiered Multi-Session All (including History): This is a by participant discount that is applied when a participant signs up for multiple camps, sessions, events etc. This will need to be assigned to each product and as participants sign up and the minimum threshold is reached, a discount will be applied for each additional session they sign up for.

Important! After your discount is created, it will need to be applied to a Product, Category, or Region to take effect.
