System & Custom Templates in CMS | Create and Use Page Templates

CMS Templates

Introduction

Configio comes pre-packaged with many System Templates that you can use to create many different types of Pages. You can also build Custom Templates to create even more types of pages.

Getting Started

To enable the CMS feature, contact Implementation Specialist.

Using System Templates

Login to the Administrative side of your database, open the CMS top-level menu, and choose either Pages or Posts.


Choose to add a new Page or a new Post.


Complete the required fields, and additionally complete optional fields, and click the "Save" button.


Click the "Content Builder" button.


Select your Row Options, and click the "Ok" button.


In your Row, click "Add Column".


Find a Template from the right-hand side of the screen. Use can use the filter menu to constrain the list of Templates to help find the right one.


Drag a template to the "Add Content Block" visual aid within your row/column, or drag it above or below your row/column.


You can now click into your Content Block that is using your Template to edit the content for your Page or Post.

Once you are happy with your content, click the "Save" button.



Building Custom Templates
You can build your own Custom Templates. Custom Templates can use either placeholder-like images and text, like System Templates do, or they can have well-defined text and images. Login to the Administrative side of your database, open the CMS top-level menu, and click the Template menu item.


Click the "Add New Content Template" button.


Input a Title.


Click the "Content Builder" button.


Use the Content Builder to build a new Template. You can drag existing Templates into the Content Builder as a starting point.


You can also build from scratch using Content Blocks. See the Content Builder article for detailed instructions. Below, I Added a Row, Added a Column, clicked to Add a Content Block, and chose the content type of Image.


You will need to define some field values. If you are going to create a Template that has placeholder-like content, use placeholder-like values. 


If you are going to create a Template that has well-defined content, use those values.


When you are happy, click the "Save as Template" button.

Using Custom Templates

You can use a Custom Template just like a System Template. Login to the Administrative side of your database, open the CMS top-level menu, and choose either Pages or Posts.


Choose to add a new Page or a new Post.


Complete the required fields, and additionally complete optional fields, and click the "Save" button.


Click the "Content Builder" button.


Select your Row Options, and click the "Ok" button.


In the Templates sidebar, filter your templates to just Custom Templates, then drag-and-drop the Template into the Editor. Finish building your Page or Post, and then click the "Save" button.
