Time Blocks - The Product Details Page

Time Blocks - The Product Details Page

Introduction

There are two ways for your customers to add Time Block products to your Shopping Cart - one is via the Schedule Builder, and the other is via the Product Details page. Adding the product via the details page can be preferential as it ties in with Product List page features like Search Controls. This article covers how to setup your Time Block products to be purchasable via the details page.

Getting Started

There are two System Configurations that are related to this feature. Login to the Administrative side of your database and navigate to Settings > Setup > Configurations. Search for "time block products."

In the Shopping Cart : Product Details Page section, you will see a config to change the instructions on how to use the details page calendar. If you like, you can customize these instructions. There is also a config to define how many calendar items appear on each day. If there are more than this number, they will be nested under a "More" link. Click the Save button to record your changes.

Best Practices for Product Setup

There is an article about building Time Block Products, so please see that article if you are not familiar with creating them. When selling them via the details page, We suggest using Single Page Checkout, as it provides (in our estimation) the best flow for your Customers. You will also want to ensure that the Products are not hidden from the cart. Both of these settings are on the Advanced Tab when editing a Product.

The Details Page Calendar

Your customer will visit the Product Details page and will see a calendar. It will show a month view by default, and each appointment item for that month will be shown, unless they are hidden per the config above, and as shown below.

This is the same calendar this is used elsewhere in the Shopping Cart, and the controls are the same. You customers can choose between the month, week, and day views, they can page through the calendar, and they can use the "today" button to go to today's page.

Your customer will then select the calendar item that works best for them. If using Single Page Checkout (recommended), they will then either be prompted to login, or if already logged in, they will be able to select a Participant. and then be able to click the Add to Cart button.

They can then either return to purchase more Time Blocks, or they can Checkout.
